(04/24/2012) Selections for the Directors' Fortnight and the Critics' Week have been announced.
(04/25/2012) The Jury members have been revealed: along President Nanni Moretti, we'll see designer Jean-Paul Gaultier, directors Andrea Arnold, Raoul Peck, Alexander Payne and actors Diane Kruger, Hiam Abbass, Emmanuelle Devos and Ewan McGregor.
(04/26/2012) News from the US competition ! We have stills for "The Paperboy", "Killing Them Softly" and a brand new "Lawless" trailer.
(05/28/2012) Hi everyone ! I'm back from Cannes, the Festival just wrapped up. This has been a great fortnight. You can take a look at my Twitter profile (@cinecharlie) for exclusive pics, including a blurry Kristen Stewart on her way to the "On the Road" red carpet.
So yeah, in the end, it's all about "Love" ! Michael Haneke won the Palme d'Or, after already winning it for its previous film: 'The White Ribbon". This is not the first time a filmmaker wins two consecutive Palmes (Bille August won for "Pelle the Conqueror" and "The Best Intentions") but Haneke is faster: the White Ribbon was only three years ago. "Love" is a very anticipated of mine (see our article for 2012 previews). My schedule was busier than last year, when I reviewed 5 films. This year, I could catch up with the film by Alain Resnais ("You ain't seen nothin' yet !", in Competition) and a Colombian film that I was eager to discover ("La Playa DC", at Un Certain Regard). Both films are good, but none of them got awarded.
Below is the summary of this year's awards.
Competition (Jury president: Nanni Moretti)
Un Certain Regard (Jury president: Tim Roth)
Directors' Fortnight
Critics' Week
