French Bloggers Awards 2014

Just like our own Movie Parliament Awards, the French bloggers (HIMYB-How I Met Your Blogger) started to hand out their first awards in 2011.
Among their 10 nominees for Best Film of 2014, you'll find all of our own nominees ! (except "Under The Skin").
(The voting follows the French release dates, so don't be surprised to find here some films like "Her")

Vote below for this year's HIMYB nominees, and then vote for the 4th Movie Parliament Awards !

NOMINATIONS FOR THE 4th "HOW I MET YOUR BLOGGER" AWARDS
(my predictions in red / a friend's predictions in black)

- Best Comics Adaptation
300: Rise of an Empire
The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Guardians of the Galaxy - WINNER
X-Men: Days of Future Past

Logic dictates that X-Men takes it (it has the most nominations), but this is the Guardians' only shot at a win & I think the bloggers won't wiss that.

- Best Blockbuster
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Edge of Tomorrow
Godzilla
Interstellar - WINNER
X-Men: Days of Future Past

Seems like a no-brainer given that X-Men is the most nominated film of the night (with Gone Girl).

- Best Comedy
22 Jump Street
Babysitting
Libre et assoupi
Neighbors
Pride - WINNER

I predict a national vote for a French comedy (not unlike "Project X") that exceeded all expectations at box-office a year ago.

- Best Romance
The Fault in Our Stars
Her - WINNER
Only Lovers Left Alive
The Spectacular Now
What if

The tearjerker of the year might take this... (2012 release The Spectacular Now got a complicated distribution in French theaters)

- Best Teen Movie
Divergente
The Fault in Our Stars - WINNER
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1
The Labyrinth
The Spectacular Now

... and it may take this one too.

- Best Horror Series
American Horror Story
Hannibal
Penny Dreadful
Supernatural
The Walking Dead - WINNER

I am not a big fan of the show but a good friend told me the season 2 is excellent, so I'm counting on him.

- Actor of the Year
Ben Affleck (Gone Girl)
Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler) - WINNER
Matthew McConaughey (Dallas Buyers Club)
Pierre Niney (Yves Saint-Laurent)
Joaquin Phoenix (Her)

Niney won the César & his film is quite popular. I don't see Affleck winning this, & McConaughey already won in 2012 for "Killer Joe".

- Best Director
Wes Anderson (The Grand Budapest Hotel)
Xavier Dolan (Mommy)
David Fincher (Gone Girl) - WINNER
Richard Linklater (Boyhood)
Bryan Singer (X-Men: Days of Future Past)

"Mommy" was loved here, but I think the bloggers won't deny their first opportunity to reward Fincher.

TALLY
4 - Gone Girl, Her, X-Men: Days of Future Past

3 - Mommy
2 - Boyhood, The Fault in Our Stars, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Interstellar, Nightcrawler, The LEGO Movie, The Spectacular Now, YSL

- Best French Film
La French
Love at First Fight (Les Combattants) - WINNER
Respire
Serial (Bad) Weddings (Qu'est-ce qu'on a fait au Bon Dieu ?)
Yves Saint-Laurent

It won all the "directorial debut" awards last year, no reason that it stops now.

- Best Animated Film
Astérix: le Domaine des Dieux
The Book of Life
How to Train Your Dragon 2
The LEGO Movie - WINNER
The Tale of the Princess Kaguya

I'm going to bet on the one nominated for Best Film.

- Best Horror Movie
Alleluia
As Above, So Below (Catacombes)
The Babadook
Horns - WINNER
Sharknado 2: The Second One

Come on, this looks awesome.

- Best DTV/VOD
Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues - WINNER
Byzantium
The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby
The Normal Heart
Veronica Mars

It was quite good & a crowdfunding success, so why not. But the fight scene in Anchorman 2 surpasses them all.

- Best Comedy Series
The Big Bang Theory
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Fais pas çi, fais pas ça
Orange is the New Black - WINNER
Parks and Recreation

Parks is not that popular in France, & Orange is quite a new show here, so I go with the Big Bang.

- Best Drama Series
The Affair
Game of Thrones
House of Cards
The Leftovers
True Detective - WINNER

Because that season 3 is even better than the second one, and it would make some friends very happy.

- Best Comics Series
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Arrow - WINNER
Constantine
The Flash
Gotham

I could see all of them winning, so let's go with a random Marvel pick.

- Actress of the Year
Jessica Chastain (A Most Violent Year)
Anne Dorval (Mommy)
Scarlett Johansson (Her)
Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) - WINNER
Kristen Stewart (Sils Maria)

She's outstanding, but don't count out Dorval. Chastain already won in 2012 & Stewart is a supporting role.

- Best Film
Boyhood
The Grand Budapest Hotel
Gone Girl - WINNER
Her
Interstellar
The LEGO Movie
Mommy
Nightcrawler
Whiplash
X-Men: Days of Future Past

It's between "Mommy" & "Gone Girl": I would be surprised if any other film wins this.

EDIT (15/03/04):
So my friend & I both got 7/17 predictions correct! I predicted the Gone Girl sweep & some obvious choices (Guardians, LEGO, Fault, Combattants).  I missed all my TV predictions. Glad the bloggers went with Interstellar & Her!
